Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or relevant curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 5 years IT experience with two (2) as a database developer.
Designs, develops, tests and implements secure, scalable, reliable and maintainable databases for application software. Assists development staff to ensure application data integrity.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions: 1. Install and configure database software 2. Design and implement data models 3. Perform test data creation from scripts or by scrubbing production data 4. Designs and implements application data security model 5. Assist application developers with query creation and tuning 6. Evaluate database requirements of COTS packages 7. Apply database patches and perform upgrades 8. Support application development 9. Assist with issue identification and resolution 10. Participate in 24x7 on call support rotation
Additional Functions: 1. Proactively identifies opportunities to improve application performance. 2. Proactively identifies opportunities to improve existing methodologies, processes or other areas of application delivery performance. 3. Proactively communicates issues and status as required. Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements: 1. Knowledge of IT applications to include experience with software development methodologies, the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and best practices. 2. Experience working in teams. 3. Proficiency with PL/SQL and/or T-SQL. 4. Experience with object relational mapping technologies (Java Persistence, .NET Persistence, Hibernate, etc.). 5. Proficiency with shell scripting (Unix, PowerShell). 6. Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and/or SQL Management Studio. 7. Proficiency with MS Office. 8. Exercises critical thinking and creativity to improve database stability, reliability and availability and to reduce manual database maintenance. 9. Must possess effective and appropriate oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to develop productive relationships with peers and management. 10. Accountable for analyzing and developing complex logical database designs, logical data models, and relational data definitions is support of corporate and customer information systems. Understands the methodologies and technologies that depict the flow of data within and between technology systems and business functions/operations. Transformation of business requirements into logical data models. 11. A Masters degree may be used to offset one year of experience; PhD may offset two years of experience.
